Kakuro · how to play
A crossword made of sums.
The rules
- Fill the white cells with digits 1–9.
- Each clue is the target sum of the run next to it. The number in the top-right of a block is the sum of the run going right; the bottom-left number is the run going down.
- Within any single run, no digit repeats.
Every puzzle has one unique solution.
How to play here
Tap a white cell to select it, then tap a number (or type 1–9 on a keyboard). Clear with the Clear button, Backspace, or 0. Cells that break a rule — a repeat, or a run that overshoots its clue — light up red.
A starting tip
Short runs with extreme sums are the way in. A 2-cell run summing to 3 can only be 1+2; a 2-cell run summing to 17 must be 8+9. Pencil those first, then use the crossing runs to decide the order.

Solve a mini Kakuro together
Step 1/3:Look for a run with a small clue — like a 3-in-two (only 1+2 works) or 4-in-two (only 1+3). Find one and fill it.
Scan the clues. A run of 2 cells summing to 3 must be {1,2}.
Fill each run with distinct digits that add up to its clue. Select a cell, then type 1–9 (0 or Backspace clears, arrows move, Esc deselects, Cmd+Z undoes).
