The Hardest Logic Puzzle Ever
Three gods: one truthful, one lying, one random — in a language you can't read.
by MindYourPuzzle
Dubbed "the hardest logic puzzle ever" by the philosopher who popularized it. Deep breath.
Three gods — A, B, and C — are called, in some order, True, False, and Random:
- True always answers truthfully.
- False always lies.
- Random answers completely randomly (as if by coin flip).
Your task: determine which god is which by asking three yes/no questions — but:
- Each question is put to exactly one god (you may ask the same god more than once).
- The gods understand your language, but answer in their own: they say "ja" or "da" — and you don't know which word means "yes" and which means "no."
Can you always identify all three gods in just 3 questions — yes or no?
(Answer "yes" or "no".)
